The content and peculiarities of state book collections of the Siberian region, which keep the works of ancient literature and printing are disclosed. Special attention is paid to the process organization and presenting the results of archaeographic work aimed at the description and introduction to scientific use the monuments of ancient literacy.

Article is devoted the analysis of competitiveness of library experts in the conditions of a modern society. The author offers the model of a competitive specialist, corresponding indexes are defined. The importance of professional skill of the expert under the conditions of social development complication is considered.
The history of the illegal press in Siberia since the creation of the Soviet state upto the USSR collapse was studied. Main tendencies of unsanctioned publishing activity in the Soviet period are characterized. The study is based on a wide range of sources, many of them are introduced into scientific circulation for the first time. It was found that the forms and content of uncensored editions were conditioned by a specific historical social-political conditions and social-cultural processes. The continuity of pre-revolutionary traditions of the underground press was traced.

Based on the analysis of publications of scholars and book practitioners the author formulates main features and definition of the bookselling network as a set of wholesale, wholesale-retail and retail bookselling enterprises under common management (a single management center and unified management principles), which sell the similar book and accompanying assortment of goods and services for personal and public (library) consumption to get profit.
The communicative model of «business reading» is presented. Reader's communication is considered as process of transferring and perception of knowledge on the basis of the U. Shramm and C. Osgud’s circular model of communication. Elements of the communicative model (the communicator 1 – coding process – message – channel – the communicator 2 – a decoding process – feed-back) and their specificity in scientific sphere are considered in detail.
