Publication of Literature in the West Siberian Educational District at the Beginning of the XX Century

The purpose of the article is to give an idea of publishing educational and educationalmethodical literature on the disciplines taught in the West Siberian educational district in 1901-1917. The author provides statistical data, demonstrates the topical diversity of works, the structure and content of a number of publications. The data from the Volume 2 of the “Union Catalog of Siberian and the Far Eastern Books” (Novosibirsk, 2004) made up the source base. When preparing the article bibliographic, statistical, analyticalthematic, historical-retrospective research methods were used.

The purpose of the article is to form an idea about the release of educational and methodical literature on disciplines taught in various educational institutions of the Far East in the pre–revolutionary period. In this regard, the author provides statistical information on the release of literature by year and city of the Amur Educational District, demonstrates the variety of topics of published works, the structure and content of a number of publications.

The purpose of the article is to present the joint work of the Highest Approved Standing Commission for the Organization of Public Readings and the General Staff on recommendation of publications recognized as relevant to the goals of primary education and moral training of lower ranks. The interaction of these structures was traced from the moment of receiving publications by the Military Scientific Committee of the General Staff up to sending to the Permanent Commission circulars with concrete indication of publications recommended and admitted to the troops.

The article is dedicated to the memory of the famous Kazakh historian Professor V. Z. Galiev (25.02.1938–22.06.2017), the author of numerous works on various aspects of the history of Kazakhstan in the late XVII – early XX centuries. The purpose of the article is to elucidate the scientist’s contribution to the study of problems of book and library culture in Kazakhstan. The researches on Russian political exile in Kazakhstan in the 19th century formed the initial core of his scientific interests.

Russian Book Publishing in the New Geopolitical Realities

The article examines the impact of the new geopolitical and economic realities, in which Russia exists after 2020–2022, on the country’s publishing system. The comparative dynamics of book publishing indicators for the market as a whole and for its main segments in recent years is provided. The ratio of new editions and reprints, as well as books by domestic authors and translated literature is analyzed. The imbalance in the repertoire policy of Russian publishing houses in favor of foreign literary products is shown, and ways to overcome it are proposed.

The purpose of the article is to provide an overview of the modern practice of publishing military ego-documents (memoirs, diaries, correspondence). Over the past 30 years of post-Soviet history, this process, according to the observations of the author of the article, has gone through two stages.

The object of the article is to reveal on the materials from the archive of I.P. Ladyzhnikow Publishing House (1905–1932), found by the author, various aspects of publishing literature in foreign languages. The company was one of the largest Russian- language publishing houses in Berlin, which, in addition to the mass publication of books in Russian, published in large volumes in the first two decades of the 20th century books in foreign languages, mostly in German. They published Russian classical literature, works of contemporary authors. The main volume fell on the works by L.N.

The Main Research Directions in the Study of Regional Book Culture: on the Example of the Republic of Buryatia

In recent years, the number of research on regional book culture has increased. This trend can be traced in Buryatia, where, on the contrary to the consistency of surveys carried on during the Soviet period, they are scattered today. The lack of the holistic idea of the main directions to study Buryatia book culture in different historical periods dictates the need to summarize information on the research carried out, to determine the degree of development of the scientific problem.

Russian publishing market and sci-tech library collection development

The Russian publishing market is analyzed from the library’ perspective, as the book publishing and book distribution market dynamics, including both book publishing and trends in distributing in different formats through various channels and technologies, affect significantly library collection development. The following problems are indicated: 1) completeness and accessibility of information on scientific literature being published; 2) procurability. The analysis is based on the statistical data by Russian Book Chamber, sector-specific report “The Russian Book Market”, etc.
