Oil flax is an agricultural crop whose oil is a valuable source of polyunsaturated fatty acids. Currently, the issue of molecular genetic certification of agricultural plants in the Russian Federation, including flax, is of high importance. Existing methodologies have several drawbacks, necessitating the search for new highly informative DNA markers.

Persistence of tomato pathogens and associated microorganisms on trellises after three years of overwintering

This study determined the persistence of tomato pathogens (Solanum lycopersicum L.) on wooden trellises and their garters after three years of outdoor overwintering, followed by nine months of indoor storage at positive temperatures. The trellises were initially used in a plot with nine tomato varieties and hybrids during a pathogen epiphytotic in 2021 in the Kimry District, Tver Region. The trellises consisted of miscanthus stalks and wooden laths with garter materials (twine).

Federal Research Center for Vegetable Growing is the oldest breeding institution in Russia, the scientific activity of which began with the Gribovo Vegetable Breeding Experimental Station established in 1920. At present, Federal Vegetable Growing Research Center preserves the traditions established by Sergey Ivanovich Zhegalov (an outstanding scientist, geneticist and plant breeder, the founder of the Russian scientific school of vegetable crops selection, professor of Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy and develops new prospects and subjects.

In 2021, the scientific community celebrates the 95 th anniversary of Ida Pavlovna Kalinina (1926-2015), the academician, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor, the most famous scientist in Russia and abroad. In 1951, she graduated from the Fruit and Vegetable Faculty of the Timiryazev Agricultural Academy and devoted 64 years of her life to working for the benefit of domestic horticulture in Siberia.

Apple tree resistance to high temperature stress

Under unstable climatic conditions, the resistance of apple trees to high temperatures is an important varietal trait. The aim of the research is to identify heat resistance indicators of different apple varieties in a heat chamber for dry air treatment. The heat treatment of the varieties Antonovka Obyknovennaya, Lobo, Rozhdestvenskoe, Bolotovskoe, Kandil Orlovskiy, Imrus was carried out in a heat chamber at the temperature of +38°С and air humidity of 40% for 90 days. For the heat treatment, 2-year-old apple plants were used.

Long-term studies were carried out at the experimental base of the Russian State Agrarian University – Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy ( Michurinsky district, Tambov region ) in the conditions of the northern part of the Central Chernozem region. The breeding program to create new varieties of white lupine ( Lupinus albus L. ) of determinant type was carried out on leached chernozems and included studies to assess the effect of stress factors on the main dynamic parameters and seed productivity of varieties of white lupine selected by the RSAU – MTAA.

Effect of nitrogen nutrition on yield and yield structure elements of spring barley varieties bred by FRC “Nemchinovka”

The response of ten spring barley varieties bred by FRC “Nemchinovka” to increasing nitrogen nutrition has been studied. A positive effect of nitrogen fertilisation on the yield growth and the main elements of barley yield structure was found. The varieties Nadezhnyi, Raushan and Zlatoyar were highly responsive to more intensive nitrogen nutrition.

The article presents the results of the study of the baking qualities of grain of three varieties of soft spring wheat characterized by by purple grain colouring, and the red grain standard of Zlata in the conditions of the Central region of the Non-Chernozem zone. The years of the study were characterized by contrasting meteorological conditions – excessively humid year 2020 and arid year 2021. Protein content was determined using a spectrophotometer. Gluten was washed manually.
