The theme of digital reading is becoming ever more relevant with a growing understanding of the importance of reading for developing both an individual and society as a whole. The issue addressed in the article is connected with the recently evolved concept of “digital reading”.
The author's term «library and estate culture» is presented, preconditions and factors of its development as a historical phenomenon are considered, its culturological essence from the point of view of library science is investigated.

Training the local history specialists in libraries is an urgent problem of our time. The required core competencies for local history staff training are partially laid down in the educational and professional standards. The study objective is a comprehensive analysis of educational institutions that provide training, retraining and advanced training the library specialists. The research includes three stages: 1. Sites analysis of universities training according the direction «Library-information activities» (2016). The results have been presented earlier. 2.
The article objective is to show the library role and importance in shaping the information space.
A review of the collection of Buddhist information resources developed by the Dharma Drum Buddhist College in Taiwan is carried out. Thoroughly observed are themes and content of these resources, methods of implementation and copy right policy are discussed.
It is proposed to use references in a scientist's articles as one of the possible characteristics of his information behavior. The analysis of the publications of researchers in the Institute of chemical kinetics and combustion during 2007 allowed to reveal priorities for publications, to determine the retrospective of information search in the theme under investigation, to clear up «the geography» of the material, to consider the ratio of references on printed and electronic sources of information, etc.
