Isolation of bacteriophages specific for Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris and biocontrol of black rot disease of cabbage

Twenty-one isolates of bacteriophages specific to eleven target strains ofXanthomonas campestris pv. campestris were isolated from soil samples collected under black rot-infected cabbage plants. An electron microscopic study of bacteriophage morphology allowed to classify 3 isolates as members of the Siphoviridae family, and the remaining eighteen isolates as those representing the Myoviridae family.

Innovative development of Russian agriculture: current state and supporting measures

The relevance of the research lies in the need to overcome the dependence of Russian agriculture on imports of foreign technologies. The country has problems with effective interaction between enterprises and research institutions in R&D, knowledge sharing and commercialization and possibly marketing activities. The aim is to identify the factors that hinder the innovative development of agriculture in Russia through support, and to propose measures to improve its effectiveness.

Sainfoin (Onobrychis Adans.): a beneficial crop in organic grassland farming (review)

Perennial legumes are the most beneficial crops in the organic grassland farming. These crops include sainfoin, which should take its rightful place in forage lands, especially in modern conditions of increasing aridity. Three species are cultivated in Russia: Onobrychis viciifolia Scop., O. arenaria (Kit.) DC and O. transcaucasica Grossh. The cultivation of sainfoin is of great ecological importance due to its special ecological properties and chemical composition. It has a deep and highly branched root system, capable of absorbing nutrients from deep soil layers.

Detection of the soybean bacterial blight pathogen Pseudomonas savastanoi pv. Glycinea in seeds by the PCR method

This article describes the application of the classical PCR method for the diagnosis of the soybean bacterial blight pathogen Pseudomonas savastanoi pv. glycinea in seeds. Two methods for pathogen isolation from infected soybean seeds, five methods for DNA extraction and two master mixes for preparation of reaction mixture were investigated. The use of a PCR-based test system with oligonucleotides specific for the coronaphacate ligase (cfl) gene allowed the diagnosis of the soybean bacterial blight pathogen in seeds at a concentration of 2 × 103 CFU/ml.

The contribution of P.M. Smirnov to the development of agrochemistry, the use of mineral fertilizers and agriculture of our country is described. Dairy goat breeding is developing dynamically in the world and in Russia. To scientifically substantiate the breeding strategy of dairy goats, meat-dairy goats and dairy-meat ones, it is necessary to expand information about the composition of goat milk and the nature of correlations between its components. In the article, the composition of goat milk of dairy goats, meat-dairy goats and dairy-meat ones is considered in the comparative aspect.

Critical analysis of approaches to involving unclaimed land in the farming business

The lack of market for farming lands and dynamics of their area growth is a process which should be considered in terms of the need to involve them in the farming business. Taking into account the current situation in Russia, one of the ways of addressing the issue of country’s food security and food import substitution is the introduction of unclaimed farming lands into the farming business. By 2030, the Ministry of Agriculture plans to involve 13 million hectares of farming lands in the farming business. This article identifies causes of appearance and growth of such unclaimed lands.

Development of snow mold of winter wheat in the conditions of the Central Non-Chernozem region with regard to tillage technologies and weather conditions of different years

The paper presents the results of the analysis of diseases of infectious fallout of winter wheat at the Field Experimental Station of the Russian State Agrarian university – Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy from 2013–2015 to 2020–2021, depending on the tillage technology and weather conditions. It was shown that the main disease was pink snow mold (caused by Microdochium nivale). The analysis of the dynamics of the disease over 5 years showed that the prevalence was higher under zero tillage than under moldboard tillage (6.6 and 3.9%, respectively).

Age dynamics of the live weight of the Kazakh white-headed breed of beef cattle

The aim of the study is to establish the age dynamics of the variability of live weight with the average daily liveweight gain of the Kazakh white-headed breed of beef cattle. In all analyzed agricultural enterprises at the age of six months, the live weight of bulls varied from 172.4 kg to 196.5 kg, and in heifers – from 160.1 kg to 180.7 kg, respectively. According to the indicators of the average daily liveweight gain, there are som e differences between bulls and heifers.

Agroclimatic resources of KhMAD-yugra region

The authors made assessment of agroclimatic resources in KhMAO-Yugra based on observed meteorological data obtained from 53 meteorological posts over the period of2005-2016. It was found that the climate change on the territory of KhMAO has resulted in an increase of200°C in the sum of active temperatures (above the base growth that equals 10°C) over the past decade. These changes are caused by the prolonged growing season by 13-15 days. The average temperature of the hottest month has not been changed.
