Analysis of the Demand for Russian Literature in Shanghai Library

Method of sampling and questionnaire were applied for the study. Analyzing the online circulation records of Chinese translations of Russian literature in the main collection of Shanghai Library from 2016 to 2019 and providing an overview of reader demographics are two major tasks. As a typical example, the circulation records of 2019 are thoroughly examined.

Open spaces in public libraries: from social practices to cultural values

Open space is a social phenomenon with a value load. The author emphasizes the role of open spaces in integrating social practices of the local community members, forming the territorial population identity, common values and cultural meanings. The paper highlights that it is necessary to use a wide range of traditional and virtual technologies in open spaces, as well as to strengthen cooperation with other social organizations.
The Russian emigrant collection at the University of Hawaii

The range of Russian emigrant literature covers materials published in China, Korea, Japan, Australia, Alaska, the Pacific coast of the United States, and South America. The children literature collection is a special value. Besides there are archival materials devoted to Russians in the Asia-Pacific region. The history of its formation is described.

Forming the regional documents collection: terminology analysis

The essence is that lots of concepts, according to the author’s view, do not meet modern trends of social-economic development of the territory, it complicates the process of forming the regional documents collection in libraries. It is supposed to complete the conceptual row of the topic with more precise definitions and to introduce them into the lexicon of librarians-practitioners, it’s the article objective.
