Based on the higher school curricula, the author discusses the issues of professional training of bibliographers. She characterizes the current approaches to building bibliographer professional competences (systematic, practice-oriented, digitalization, and continuity in education). Based on the “Library and information activity” curricula analysis, the author identifies the set of disciplines for teaching key bibliographer competences. The core curricula and bibliographic disciplines of regional character are specified along with the courses aimed at building digital competences. The contents of disciplines are analyzed, the bachelor and master degree programs are compared, and main trends of bibliographer professional training are revealed. The purpose of the study is to prepare proposals to upgrade bibliographer competences based on the analysis of higher school curricula. The study methods include analysis of universities’ official websites, curricula content analysis and comparison. The practical significance of the study is related to its findings and obtained data that may be used for upgrading the systems of bibliographer training in the higher schools and universities of culture.
