The problems of the book publishing in the languages of the peoples of Russia appeared to be pressing within the context of the national language policy of the Russian Federation. The market conditions in the contemporary book publishing business have negatively influenced this sector of the All-Russian publisher's repertory in many respects. The state publishing statistics evidences on this and enables to define the obvious leaders and outsiders among the concrete regions and languages: the Tatarian, Yakutian and Bashkirian, etc.

The purpose of the article is to identify the mechanisms of formation of socio-cultural values and mental characteristics of students through the images of literary heroes. Content analysis of literary sources according to the selected parameters: positive and negative qualities of the hero, attitude to study, labor, family, Motherland, ideas about good and evil, values and priorities, norms of behavior in society and collective was chosen as the research method.

The books’ role in the German Enlightenment discourse explores the intersection of different but complementary disciplines: bibliology, philosophy of culture and «text linguistics», as well as the history of literature that expands the possibilities of studying cultural and public communication. A text (magazine, book) is interpreted as a mechanism that controls the process of learning and understanding. To illustrate the study theoretical foundations, the author considers the historical practice of the literary era in Germany in 1770-1790.

The article identifies the library's ability to stimulate reader activity in the context of the multimedia culture development. It also considers main changes in the library activities as an organizer of reading in multimedia culture including the increase of emphasis on readers, their subjectivity, interaction dialogue forms development, multimedia projects implementation, online services and digital resources introduction, education of readers on literate media behavior and text activity in the Internet.

The article presents an attempt to study the historical-bibliologic concept of memory. Studying the opinions of historians, sociologists, bibliologists allowed comprehending the role of book and reading in the processes of memory preservation and forming the public consciousness historical component. The author analyzes relationship between the traditions of bookishness and memory; negative tendencies of the «break with tradition» in a sphere of modern book culture.
