Transforming awareness of researchers and professionals on altmetrics

The altmetrics are not utilized to the full extent despite their potential. The author discusses the findings of the survey of researchers’ and professionals’ awareness of altmetrics, and reviews in brief the history of altmetrics and changing attitude toward altmetrics in Russia and Worldwide. The purpose of the study is to define, based on the critical analysis of 2020 and 2025 surveys, the changes in the altmetrics perception among the Russian scientists.

Altmetric methods enable to facilitate assessing research results on the basis of their citations and use by other users. The author addresses Current Research Information Systems (CRIS) as the core resources to reflect research output of individual research institutions. The purpose of her study is to analyze the experience of applying altmetrics in foreign CRIS. Besides, she reviews the studies in altmetrics and characterizes in brief altmetric indicators and their providers.

Performance of organization’s scientific activities is assessed based on the analysis of research findings reflected in the employers’ publications. The author examines the prospects for Current Research Information Systems (CRIS). The purpose is to analyze acquisition and structure of the research activities data for Russian universities and to reveal the trends in CRIS evolution. The manage ment system for the universities participating in the “Priority-2030” Program is reviewed along with the results of theory scientific processes monitoring.
