The comprehensive multimodal approach to the popularization of mathematics in the Russian State Library for the Blind

The author reviews the history and current state of library and information support for the system of teaching mathematics to the blind students. The comprehensive multimodal approach is applied to develop of mathematical document collection intended for blind schoolchildren and students, as well as for specialists working with this category of learners. The techniques of increasing the efficiency of perception of the contents by readers with different sensory limitations is discussed.

The author discusses the theoretical legacy of Russian bibliography scientist Natalia Andrianovna Slyadneva (1950–2023) through the lens of the contemporary bibliographic theory and practice. She attempts to reveal and promote among the scientific community the ideodocumentоgraphic approach developed by N. Slyadneva in her doctor’s thesis of 1994. The concepts of the ideodocumentographic approach and its value for the bibliographic science for that period are discussed; its theoretical and practical impact on the contemporary information environment is examined.

The purpose of the article is to study the written sources appeared as a result of activities of the Buryat- Mongolian State Institute of Culture - the successor of the Buryat- Mongolian scientific committee and kept now in the Centre of Oriental manuscripts and xylographs of the Institute for Mongolian, Buddhist and Tibetan Studies of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The Library for Natural Science of the Russian Academy of Sciences embraces publications from the Library of German Chemical Society (Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker). The Library was established all at the same time as the Society, in 1867. The outstanding collection of chemical literature was being developed over decades. The Library was receiving books and journals from Russia owing to close ties between Russian, Soviet and German colleagues.

Based on archival materials and published sources the authors determine the Academician M. A. Dyakonov role as the Chairman of the Permanent Library Commission in the Russian Academy of Sciences (1915-1919) and simultaneously the Director of the Library of the Academy of Sciences (1916-1919).
