This research focuses on Shanghai Library users’ demand for Russian literature of different literary periods. Method of sampling and questionnaire were applied for the study. Analyzing the online circulation records of Chinese translations of Russian literature in the main collection of Shanghai Library from 2016 to 2019 and providing an overview of reader demographics are two major tasks. As a typical example, the circulation records of 2019 are thoroughly examined.
Patent and information provision of innovation activity in Novosibirsk region is considered. At the embodiment on the example of SPSL work on the Federal target program «Development of nanotechnology infrastructures in the Russian Federation». The set of organizations working in the field of nanotechnology
is proposed. A detailed list of sources to meet the information needs of organizations participating in nanotechnology network in Novosibirsk region is proposed. Opportunities for access to information resources are presented.
The article considers the practice of creating open spaces in public libraries of foreign countries. Open space is a social phenomenon with a value load. The author emphasizes the role of open spaces in integrating social practices of the local community members, forming the territorial population identity, common values and cultural meanings. The paper highlights that it is necessary to use a wide range of traditional and virtual technologies in open spaces, as well as to strengthen cooperation with other social organizations.
The article is devoted to the Russian emigrant collection in Hamilton Library, University of Hawaii (Honolulu, USA). The range of Russian emigrant literature covers materials published in China, Korea, Japan, Australia, Alaska, the Pacific coast of the United States, and South America. The children literature collection is a special value. Besides there are archival materials devoted to Russians in the Asia-Pacific region. The history of its formation is described.
The review examines modern library activity taking into account the influence of external technological and social environment, changes in scientific communications, education, modernization of data management systems, etc. The author identifies trends in developing scientific (academic) and public libraries to a greater degree. The material is structured in blocks and presented in two parts (the first one was published in «Bibliosphere», 2018, № 4).

The article deals with the problem of applying terms of the library local studies in practice. The essence is that lots of concepts, according to the author’s view, do not meet modern trends of social-economic development of the territory, it complicates the process of forming the regional documents collection in libraries. It is supposed to complete the conceptual row of the topic with more precise definitions and to introduce them into the lexicon of librarians-practitioners, it’s the article objective.
