Current state and trends of the mobile library applications (the case of the Bavarian State Library)

The mobile technology gained widespread use and became an essential part of all advanced industries over the past decade. Libraries also cannot ignore them, so mobile library applications have become one of the most relevant technological innovations in library activities. Now more and more libraries offer their websites in the mobile version. However, the capabilities of library mobile applications are not limited to providing access to basic services on the library website.

The first results of activity of the State Public Scientific Technical Library of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Science within the Federal program «Development of nano-industry infrastructure in the Russian Federation» are presented. Basic planned activity including data retrieval on information needs of organizations dealing with nanotechnologies in the Novosibirsk region, access possibilities to information resources are described.

Book publishing in a county town at the beginning of the XX century (based on the materials of Luga town in St. Petersburg Province)

The article examines the history of the development of book publishing and trade in a county town at the beginning of the twentieth century on the base of materials of Luga county town in St. Petersburg Province. It analyzes the phylogeny of the book center as a «cultural nest» of the region, as the source of education. Particular attention is paid to censorship of periodicals, Zemstvo publishing activities and public associations.

Creating the collection of Russian books in the Library of the Warsaw educational district in 1832–1850

The author discusses the process of creating the collection of Russian books in the first half of the 19th century in the contemporary Library of University in Warsaw. Three types of sources were used: 1) the reports of the superintendents of the Warsaw Education District prepared in 1841–1860 and stored as part of the archival collections of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Empire in Russian State Historical Archives in StPetersburg; 2) the printed catalog of A. F.

The main stages of forming the system of the current state (national) bibliographic control in the subjects of the Russian Federation since the 1930s are considered. The current state in the system of accounting of bibliographic resources, reflecting its results is analyzed. The ways of improving the state bibliographic indexes of the Russian Federation subjects in new technological conditions are proposed.

Users’ information needs (IN) underlying the system of information-library servicing are still actively studied by specialists of the librarianship. These studies require the correct choice of research methods. The authors attempted to analyze techniques of studying scientists’ and specialists’ IN reflected in professional publications, to find out whether there are new methods, and to determine how these techniques are transformed in a changing environment of information-library activities.

Статья посвящена исследованию библиотек XVIII–XIX вв., принадлежавших известным предпринимателям и государственным деятелям Строгановым. Основное внимание уделяется выявлению и изучению естественно-научной литературы европейских авторов в составе библиотеки графа П. А. Строганова по его «Каталогу российским книгам…», хранящемуся в Архиве Государственного Эрмитажа.
