Problems of explicating non-traditional religiosity in analytical philosophy of religion

Traditional logical methods of analytical philosophy are poorly suited for analyzing statements expressing religious views, so analytical philosophy of religion often reduces to linguistic analysis of such statements. This method is often used to analyze theistic judgments. In this case, the explication of the social phenomenon of non-traditional religiosity becomes a very specific problem, as it involves analyzing judgments that express alternative views on the existence of religious objects.

The article refutes the widely held view that R. Rorty's philosophy is close to postmodernism. It is shown that in the confrontation between analytical and continental philosophy, Rorty held moderate positions towards the end of his life, criticizing both sides for intolerance. It is argued that Rorty explained the differences in the philosophizing style of both branches by several factors, including the stance of Scientism versus Romanticism and Personal Versus Public.

The article aims to present the study of Aristotle’s teaching on consciousness and soul conducted by the well-known contemporary scholar of ancient philosophy, Jonathan Barnes, as an example of a certain historical-philosophical style that emerged within British analytic philosophy as a whole and within the Aristotelian Society in particular during 1970-1980s.

The concepts of the history of philosophy, the historiography of philosophy or of the history of philosophy, as well as the philosophy of the history of philosophy, are often interchangeable. In the analytic tradition the historiography of the history of philosophy has its own meaning. It originated on the basis of analytic philosophy, and was a reflection on its significance and contribution to philosophy, hereby it revised its ahistorical attitudes towards philosophy and its history in favor of appropriationism.

On Periodization of Pragmatism

Currently, there are a s number of positions on periodization and stages of the evolutionary development of pragmatism. In contemporary philosophy and the history of philosophy there is no stable consensus as to who of the modern philosophers can be unambiguously ranked among pragmatists and neo-pragmatists, and also, from what point can one speak of the onset of the neo-pragmatist stage of development of this tradition.
