Solutions for intestinal health: a new direction in feeding monogastric animals (review)

Realizing the genetic potential of monogastric animals depends on a well-functioning gastrointestinal tract, which not only digests and absorbs nutrients but also protects against harmful microflora. This intestinal function is energetically expensive, requiring up to 40% of daily protein and energy intake to support rapid enterocyte turnover – these cells are replaced approximately every three days. This article reviews current perspectives on using probiotics, prebiotics, and butyric acid-based complexes in modern industrial pig and poultry farming.

The article presents qualitative assessment of the selected blackcurrant hybrids, bred by Ufa Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences for potential and stable yield and resistance to pathogens and pests. It was found that the hybrids differed in a number of traits and were identified as sources of economically valuable traits for further use in breeding work.

Chinese cabbage is a multivitamin vegetable crop and it is in constant demand due to its taste and dietary qualities, as well as the ability to harvest this crop twice a year due to the short growing season. There are less than 70 cultivars and hybrids in the State Register of Russia, many of them are susceptible to clubroot caused by soil pathogen P.brassicae Wor. In Russia, consumer demand needs to be met with new competitive hybrids that are resistant to major diseases such as clubroot.

The effect of pre-sowing biological treatment of seeds of two varieties (Tyumenskaya 25 and Shortandinskaya 95 improved) of spring soft wheat on field germination of seeds, biological stability and plant survival during the growing season in relation to the productivity was studied. The study was conducted in field conditions (an experimental plot of the biostation “Lake Kuchak”of University of Tyumen) on sod-podzolic soil, sandy loam in granulometric composition.
