Editions of the Section for books and graphics of M. Gorky Scientists House of the Russian Academy of Sciences
Submitted by Гость (not verified) on Thu, 08/25/2022 - 13:08The Book and Graphics Section of St. Petersburg Scientists House of the Russian Academy of Sciences is the oldest bibliophile club of the country, which draws to itself attention not only domestic, but also foreign researchers in bibliology nowadays. Besides research and educational activity the Section carried on and is carrying exhibition and publishing activity. More than two hundred exhibitions have been held, more than fifty editions reflecting its member activity have been prepared during its existence.

It is applied to study historical issues in a wide range of problems of library science and librarianship development, which are relevant to modern period. Prosopographic research main stages are represented related to compiling a collective biography of a group of persons; advantages and limitations of a prosopographic method are analyzed, it is defined as a cross-disciplinary one.
The problem of the transition from oral communications to written ones: based on the Ancient Greek literature

Most foreign and domestic researchers associate the duration and instability of this transition with 1) peculiarities of organizing the political power, 2) the anthropomorphic specifics of Greek culture. The author proposes to analyze applying oral and written communications in the key works of such ancient Greek writers as Homer (Iliad, Odyssey), Hesiod (Theogony), Aeschylus (Petitioner), Aristophanes (Birds), as well as philosophical works of Plato (Fedr).

Academic library as a cultural and educational center

But educational activity of academic library is perceived in a limited context, that is why the article objective is to analyze an academic library activity as an educational and cultural center. The activity is expressed by a set of educational-information, leisure and cultural events as instruments to promote and develop scientific knowledge, to stimulate users’ reading activity, to form general human culture and specific competences.
