The author considers the questions of developing regional-historical periodicals in Siberia and the Far East. Sharp increase of their quantity during perestrojka and especially in post-Soviet period as a reaction on breaking bureaucratic bans and establishing the freedom of historical knowledge are shown. Situational analysis with the publishing of this literature in each regional centre is given. Information is given on publishers and organizations, issuing regional-historical periodicals in the East of Russia.
Public libraries possibilities as subjects for forming the culture of international interaction are considered. The current problems of public libraries under conditions of cultural diversity are marked
The study gives a new outlook on the activities of the first Tyumen printing house, which was founded by K. N. Vysotsky in 1869 and existed until 1909. The scientific novelty of the research is due to the following: 1) book publishing is considered as part of the media revolution carried out by K. N. Vysotsky thanks to the opening of the first photography studio (1866), lithography studio (1867), printing house (1869), and a newspaper publishing news and advertisements (1879) in a provincial Siberian town; 2) publishing activities of K. N. Vysotsky and L. K.
The difference between library classifications (LC) in Russian and English versions has been considered using most general classes of Dewey Decimal Classification (DC) and UDC as an example. The relation between several English and Russian terms that identify the first and the second level of the 6-th class of UDC and DC has been discussed. It has been demonstrated that lack of direct conformity in Russian and English versions might lead to discrepancy when Russian words are formally replaced by their English counterparts.

The article describes the method to monitor information resources of a social-humanitarian profile available to organizations subordinated to the Federal Agency of Scientific Organizations. The monitoring feature is its comprehensive character including both traditional and electronic resources. The paper presents the monitoring prior results on main categories of information resources.
The article deals with the design of a new type of buildings (media-library), which appeared as a result of the transformation of the traditional library under the influence of contemporary social, economic and technological conditions. Identified and defined are the basic principles of designing, main requirements to spatial composition of buildings, formed under the influence of information technology.
