Analysis of the viability of tree species in the protective forest strips of the arid territory of the Volgograd region

To solve scientific and practical problems in the field of agroforestry of arid territories, it is particularly relevant to preserve protective forest plantations of artificial origin on agricultural lands, since they have a positive impact on the yield of agricultural crops. Increasing the resistance of tree plantations to unfavorable natural and climatic factors of the arid zone, increasing the period of the reclamation effect on soil fertility, improving the ecological state of agrarian landscapes is a priority task in agroforestry reclamation measures.

Increasing the production of mutton and goat meat is essential for the food security of the Russian Federation, therefore, studies on early mating of animals are relevant, since early mating allows more offspring to be produced at an earlier date. The aim of the study was to compare the reproductive qualities, growth and development characteristics of goatlings when they are mated at 7 months of age and at 18 months of age.

The irrigated conditions of the Lower Volga region are characterised by long, very hot and often dry summers, which are favourable both for vegetables and for the development of weeds. Weed growth is a major cause of crop obscuration, pest and disease infestation, and yield loss. The main objective of the study was to develop an economically viable and effective system for protecting bulb onions from annual weeds under drip irrigation in the arid climate of the Astrakhan region.

Despite significant achievements in the agricultural sector, the problem of mastitis in sheep continues to be one of the most relevant for veterinary science and practice. Therefore, in current conditions, the solution of diagnosis, therapy, and prevention of this disease is urgently needed. The article presents morphological and biochemical parameters of sheep blood in acute serous mastitis. The research was at “Belozernoe” of the Salsk district of the Rostov region, with a total number of sheep of 956 heads.

Regularities of yield formation of table beet varieties and hybrids in the conditions of the Amur region

The article presents the results of testing of table beet varieties and hybrids in the fields of farm private enterprise “S.E.V.” (Blagoveshchensk district, Amur region) in 2015–2017. It was shown that the growing season of varieties and hybrids depended on the conditions of the year by 11.3% and on the genotype by 4.3% to 10.3%, and the yield by 26.05% to 49.69% and 16.12% to 17.69%, respectively. The correlation between yield and growing season is inverse mean r = –0.659.

Integrated assessment of introduced apple varieties (Malus Domestica borkh.) to create stable agricultural cenosis in the Orenburg region

Analyzing the varieties of apple trees included in the assortment of the Orenburg region from various regions of our country, it can be noted that fruits of attractive appearance, large size, good taste and high yield are in the greatest demand. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to select varieties and introduce them as sustainable agrocenoses for the Orenburg region. The article presents the results of a study of 15 introduced apple varieties. Landing pattern is 3.0 × 5.0 m. The studies were carried out in 2019–2021.

Influence of climate change on the prospects of increasing rural labor costs in Russian regions

The paper proposes the methodology for estimating the effect of climate change on the prospects of increasing agricultural workers ’ wages and the stocks reserved for wages, providing this capacity is employed. The methodology relies on the scenario analysis, which is conducted using the economic model of partial equilibrium in the agricultural markets of Russia’s regions (federal subjects). The capability of increasing agricultural workers ’ wages is measured by means of the shadow prices of regional agricultural labor resources.

Isolation of bacteriophages specific for Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris and biocontrol of black rot disease of cabbage

Twenty-one isolates of bacteriophages specific to eleven target strains ofXanthomonas campestris pv. campestris were isolated from soil samples collected under black rot-infected cabbage plants. An electron microscopic study of bacteriophage morphology allowed to classify 3 isolates as members of the Siphoviridae family, and the remaining eighteen isolates as those representing the Myoviridae family.

Innovative development of Russian agriculture: current state and supporting measures

The relevance of the research lies in the need to overcome the dependence of Russian agriculture on imports of foreign technologies. The country has problems with effective interaction between enterprises and research institutions in R&D, knowledge sharing and commercialization and possibly marketing activities. The aim is to identify the factors that hinder the innovative development of agriculture in Russia through support, and to propose measures to improve its effectiveness.

Sainfoin (Onobrychis Adans.): a beneficial crop in organic grassland farming (review)

Perennial legumes are the most beneficial crops in the organic grassland farming. These crops include sainfoin, which should take its rightful place in forage lands, especially in modern conditions of increasing aridity. Three species are cultivated in Russia: Onobrychis viciifolia Scop., O. arenaria (Kit.) DC and O. transcaucasica Grossh. The cultivation of sainfoin is of great ecological importance due to its special ecological properties and chemical composition. It has a deep and highly branched root system, capable of absorbing nutrients from deep soil layers.
