Donors and sources of Phylloxera Resistance of Wine Grape Varieties of the Anapa Ampelographic Collection for Breeding Work

The ampelographic collection of the Anapa Zonal Experimental Station of Viticulture and Winemaking is a research platform for breeding work. It consists of a large number of varieties of different ecological and geographical origin. At present, the gene pool of varieties in the collection consists of 4964 varieties, and it is replenished every year. These varieties and hybrids are used in the breeding process to create new, high-quality varieties of table and wine grapes.

Effective management of phytophagous pests and improvement of crop protection measures can be based on the study of the life cycle under specific conditions. In this respect, a number of issues relating to the biological features of plum moth development under modern conditions require clarification and further study. The life cycle of phytophages is determined by two main parameters: heat availability (the sum of the effective temperature) and the duration of daylight hours.

Behaviour features of entomopathogenic nematodes (Nematoda: Steinernematidae) in the presence of dead host insects

The authors have experimentally established a possibility of penetration and development of entomopathogenic nematodes (EPN) in the corpses of insects killed not only by the nematodes themselves, but also under the influence of, insecticides, for example, negative temperatures, or other insect pathogens. This fact indicates the need to study the biology of these organisms to ensure objective assessment of the prospects of their effective practical use in agriculture.

Evaluation of influence of samples of the ×Trititrigia collection as source material for grain quality in the breeding process of grain crops

In the conditions of the Central Non-Chernozem region, the development of wheat and triticale varieties combining stable high yields and grain quality is one of the most important breeding problems. One of the solutions may be to increase the genetic diversity of new varieties through interspecific and intergeneric hybridization. Trititrigia (×Trititrigia cziczinii Tzvel., 1973) is a synthetic grain crop (2n=56), a potential donor of economically valuable traits of wheat. The studies were carried out in the conditions of sod-podzolic heavy loamy soils of the Moscow region (2008–2014).

The paper presents the results of evaluating the efficiency of feed rations offered to broilers of the Arbor Acres cross, formed taking into account the climatic, geochemical conditions of Central Africa and its native food flora. The study was conducted on the basis of an experimental farm at the University of N’Djamena, the Republic of Chad. In the experiment, the authors used five formulas of feed rations, which are currently used by farms in the Republic of Chad for growing broiler chickens. They mainly contain locally availble ingredients.

The use of vegetative propagation is promising for obtaining raw materials of stable biochemical composition from popular medicinal and essential oil plants of the Lamiaceae family, such as peppermint, common thyme and oregano. Increasing the efficiency of cuttings (increasing rooting, shortening the growing period) is an urgent problem in this field. The domestic OMEK-7 complex (JSC Bioamid) and Fitaktiv extra (LLC NPO BINAM, Russia) were used in the work.

At present, the yield of barley varies greatly from year to year. This is due to changes in soil and climatic conditions. In this regard, the problem of selecting new source material for the creation of varieties capable of resisting the action of abiotic and biotic stresses is acute. The study of the global gene pool of spring barley under the conditions of the Volga-Vyatka region helps to identify adaptive forms with a complex or individual traits and properties that meet modern breeding objectives.
