Book publishing in a county town at the beginning of the XX century (based on the materials of Luga town in St. Petersburg Province)

The article examines the history of the development of book publishing and trade in a county town at the beginning of the twentieth century on the base of materials of Luga county town in St. Petersburg Province. It analyzes the phylogeny of the book center as a «cultural nest» of the region, as the source of education. Particular attention is paid to censorship of periodicals, Zemstvo publishing activities and public associations.
