The purpose of the article is to reconstruct the history of the formation and functioning of the officer library at the military assembly of the Life Guards of the Horse Grenadier regiment. The analysis of its rules, compiled by the librarian staff captain I. I. Luther (1893), have made it possible to identify indicators of the library's work.
The purpose of the article is to present the history of the creation and activities of the officers’ library of the 72 nd Tula Infantry Regiment. The initial local legal documents regulating its establishment and functioning were revealed: „Regulation on the regimental library“ and „Rules for issuing books from the regimental library“.

The authors discuss the history of the library of Imperial Engineering Academy and School; analyze the development of library collection of this institution. The authors chronologize t he h istory o f t he A cademy a nd i ts l ibrary. The relevant regulatory and legal documents that defined the library operation and development, as well as the Academy’s and School’s annual reports, made the basis of the study.
The article is timed to coincide with the anniversary of Reserve Colonel Anatoly Mikhailovich Panchenko, a prominent researcher of the history of military libraries, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor, Chief Researcher of the Book Science Laboratory of the State Public Scientific and Technical Library of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (GPNTB SB RAS).
The article represents the history of creation and development of a typographical office and book and geographical shop to sale editions of the General Staff at the Military Printing House. It analyzes «Military Printing House Regulations» highly approved on December 30, 1860 and the «Military Printing House Regulations» put into operation by the order on the Defense Ministry No. 28 on February 10, 1895, concerning activity of the typographical office and Book and Geographical Shop to sale editions of General Staff at Printing House.
