The Center for Technology and Innovation Support of V. Ya. Shishkov Altai Regional Universal Scientific Library: outcomes and perspectives

The article reviews the activities of the Center for Technology and Innovation Support (CTIS) set up within V. Ya. Shishkov Altay Regional Universal Scientific Library aimed at organizing and holding events that contribute to the patent-information support system formation and progress for the regional innovative development. The author emphases work features and priorities of the library-based CTIS, formulates some proposals for their further development.

The standardization of bibliographical terminology: development and present situation

This article is devoted to the standardization of bibliographic terminology. All Soviet and Russian standards , containing the terms in the field of bibliography are considered. The characteristic of the structural and content changes are given. The results of the studying existing domestic SIBID standards, including bibliographic terms are presented. The analysis of their content is carried out, approaches to systematization and terms definition are studied. The development of standardized bibliographic terms were traced through the normative documents.

Monitoring of the incoming documents flow to library fund as a method for optimizing the acquisition

On the example of monitoring the incoming document flow to the GNU CSAL RAAS the using possibilities of statistical indicators for the forming optimal structure of the library collection are considered. It is treaded from conceptual, factual and graphical viewpoint.

The article reviews results of the surveying scientists employees of scientific centers of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences - to study their information behavior. It reveals researchers’ preferences, peculiarities of their work with heterogeneous information and ways of its obtaining depending on a certain factor (status, age, area of knowledge, nature of activity, geographical location).

Assessing the effectiveness of the library has been and remains an important aspect in making management decisions, planning and development as separate divisions, processes, services and library as a whole. In the current context indicators such estimates are very diverse and widely applied in practice. Some approaches to measuring the efficiency of the library, identifying indicators and to modeling an integrated system of measurement are reviewed.
