The book of the past as a source of new knowledge

The main purpose of this article is to characterize the views of bibliologists and library scientists on the role of books in culture development. The authors argue that the definition of the scientific truth criteria in library science, the analysis of its epistemological bases are impossible without studying evolution of the library science theory.

The author analyses the robots' access to two types of website documents with constant or irregular renovations. The result of testing, based on the materials of www.prometeus.nsc.ru, reveals essential difference between the main home and foreign search engines.

The article considers the main stages of its formation and development. Today information and library provision of core research areas of the Ural Branch (UB) of RAS associated with natural and technical sciences, the complex of the sciences on man and society, fulfill 25 libraries located
in Yekaterinburg and 6 research centers of UB RAS.
