Antique Interpretation of Value Being

The article reconstructs an antique understanding of the genesis of value being and the meaning of the concept of the “Good”. The author proposes his own versions of interpretation of the Good based on the dialogue “The Republic”. The result is the demonstration of similarity and difference of understanding of the Good in the philosophy of Plato, Aristotle and the Stoics. The paper also shows the relationship of the founding value being of the Good with practical goal-setting andtruth.

The article offers the thesis that moral theories and practice should satisfy the minimal logical requirement of consistency. Since logic is often considered the main criterion of rationality, the theoretical foundations of various interpretations of ethics can be considered rational in this respect.

In the framework of phenomenology as a specific eidetic discipline, the problem of the correlation of theoretical and practical aspects requires its solution. The paper focuses on the validity of interpretation of intentionality as a practical intentionality, proposed by Nam-In Lee. Practical intentionality, according to Nam-In Lee, consists only of willing intentions, which can only be realized through practice.

The reconstruction of the teachings of Аnaximander about the origin of the world is based on the analysis of his practical attempts to simulate some natural phenomena and invent devices or scientific instruments that explain and predict some meteorological events. The Earth rests in equilibrium not only because of its location in the center of the Universe, but also because it is «supported» by the «shell» of «ἀήρ».

The article is dedicated to the memory of the leading agrochemist-soil scientist of the second half of the 19th and early 20th century, Professor Peter Samsonovich Kossovich. The formation of an outstanding scientist as a researcher and teacher is shown. The contribution of P.S. Kossovich to the development of agrochemistry, soil science and agriculture is described. His research has established that leguminous plants fix nitrogen of the air with roots, not leaves. P.S.

The article is dedicated to the memory of one of the leading agrochemists of the USSR, professor Petr Mikhailovich Smirnov. The rise of the outstanding scientist as a researcher and teacher is shown. The contribution of P.M. Smirnov to the development of agrochemistry, the use of mineral fertilizers and agriculture of our country is described. The paper is a tribute to the famous mineralogist, one of the founders of biogeochemistry, a leading specialist in phosphorites to professor Yakov V. Samoilov. The authors show the development of the outstanding Russian scientist as a researcher and a teacher and emphasize Ya.V. Samoilov ’s contribution to development of mineralogy, fertilizers industry, agrochemistry and agriculture of our country. The paper is written in connection with 150 th anniversary to Ya.V. Samoilov.

Local studies activity of the central libraries of the Russian Federation subjects on the All-Russian survey data

The article represents the survey results of 68 central libraries, and reveals two key aspects of local studies: an attitude to norms formulated by the «Guidelines to Local Studies Activity of the Central Library of a Subject of the RF» (2003), and corresponding common library practices to the norms. Authors consider the role of libraries as the centers of local studies. The term ‘unrealistic’ describes the situation in most cases; despite low estimation, the librarians, nevertheless, are not ready to abandon the norms.
