Today, scientific knowledge is generated at increasingly high rate, which makes manual analysis of scientific landscape almost impossible even for a narrow discipline. There is a need for instrument to structure, analyze and visualize research data. The author analyzes and compare software tools of bibliometric analysis for the bibliographic data arrays. The main purpose is to study bibliometric programs (Bibliometrix, Biblioshiny, VOSviewer, and CiteSpace), oriented at visualization and identification of structural and dynamic characteristics of disciplines.

The article is devoted to the current challenges facing scientific libraries in the context of digitalization and high competition. The aim of the study is to develop and methodologically justify the cyclical model for synthesizing quantitative and qualitative data to overcome the interpretive gap in web analytics. It analyzes the problem of the interpretation gap that arises when relying solely on quantitative data from web analytics, which do not reveal the motives and deep information needs of users.

Developing programs of new directions of work with readers in the changing sociocultural conditions is an actual orientation of domestic librarianship policy. The results of studies undertaken in order to reveal modern trends in the service system of SPSTL SB RAS showed, in particular, the growing request for belletristic and mass literature on the part of readers. This tendency of changing information needs deserves more profound study for to perfect both the servicing system and the technology of building the library stock.

Underestimation of information costs: causes and consequences

The article summarizes the experience gained in empirical research and theoretical analysis of information costs conducted by the author. The main conclusion is that information costs are systematically underestimated. That is why the high national economic efficiency of digitalization projects often turns out to be illusory. In support of the conclusion, it substantiates the regularity of the increase in per-unit direct information costs as the volume of data collected by an economic entity grows and explains why microprocessor technologies cannot reverse this trend.
