Integration of Artificial Intelligence Components into Open Archives of Scientific and Technical Information

The purpose of the article is to present the research directions of the Russian National Public Library for Science and Technology (Russian NPLSaT) on implementing artificial intelligence (AI) elements into scientific and technical information systems. The focus is on two key directions: semantic transformation of user queries and automatic summarization and annotation of full-text materials. Approaches to normalization, enrichment, and structuring of queries using AI technologies to improve the completeness and accuracy of search in library catalogs and open archives are analyzed.

Methodological chatbot within the system of developing professional competences of librarians

The authors discuss RNPLS&T organizational and technological ap proaches toward designing “Methodological chatbot for libraries”. They substantiate the relevance of chatbot as a digital service intended to develop diverse professional competences. The system of building library professional competences is multicomponent, multilevel and polythematic, including using and designing various automated interaction systems. The authors suggest which library competences can be built with methodological chatbot, i. e. the basic, event-driven, analytical, digital, and technological.

The author examines e-libraries as a subdivision of the new discipline of e-librarianship. The e-libraries as a particular subject of the library information environment emerged in 1990s, and in the mid-decade, the Russian National Public Library for Science and Technology (RNPLS&T) introduced its first e-collections. In 2020–2022, within the framework of the new research theme “Electronic Librarianship”, the RNPLS&T was developing the subjects of e-librarianship entity and definition, as well as of the terminological system.
