Directions of Regulatory Activities in Managing Preservation of Library Depository Collections

A library is an open system connected to the outside world by a variety of diverse and extensive connections, and influenced by all the basic laws and trends of society's development. The system of library legislation is formed by various laws and other regulatory acts issued in accordance with them, which directly or indirectly regulate the relationships that arise during the implementation of library activities.

In the structure of the foreign publications collection of the traditional format stored in SPSTL SB RAS, journals have always been the predominant type – more than 80 %, therefore, since the 70s of the last century, the Depository Department (at present – the Book Storage Department) has permanently participated in studies to correct principles of its formation and organization.

One of the most effective ways to study the library activity success is to work with unsatisfied readers’ requests to receive information corresponding to the library profile. The article contains material obtained in the course of research activities within the framework of the scientific project, which assumes, in particular, the study of the level of users’ satisfaction with the quality of collections.
