University Book Publishing in Buryatia at the Present Stage

The purpose of the article is to examine the current state of university book publishing in Buryatia in 2017–2021, to characterize the species diversity of their publications. The work contains the historiographic analysis of publications devoted to the problem under study using the example of university publishing houses in the country as a whole, including Siberian and the Far Eastern regions.

The growing information streams and expanding information space have made information easy accessible while the need for its filtration, critical reevaluation, and clear-cut assessment criteria emerged. The younger generation has to master skills of retrieving, analyzing and using reliable information to support their lives, career and social success. Being skillful Internet users, the teenagers yet demonstrate the low level of information culture.
