Selection of sows by genetic markers and BLUP index

The authors conducted studies on the effect of the estrogen receptor (ESR), prolactin receptor (PRLR), and ryanodine receptor (RYR-1) genotypes on the breeding value of sows. Using the BLUP method, they evaluated the indicators of the large white, landrace, and Duroc breeds to develop a regional hybridization system in the pig industry of the Belgorod region. The research determined a significant influence of the “desirable” BB and AB genotypes of the ESR gene in large white sows and the “desirable” BB genotype of the RPLR gene in Landrace and Duroc sows on the maternal BLUP index.

In 2021, the scientific community celebrates the 95 th anniversary of Ida Pavlovna Kalinina (1926-2015), the academician, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor, the most famous scientist in Russia and abroad. In 1951, she graduated from the Fruit and Vegetable Faculty of the Timiryazev Agricultural Academy and devoted 64 years of her life to working for the benefit of domestic horticulture in Siberia.

For many years, grapes were considered to be an unpromising crop in the conditions of the Central Non-Black Earth Zone but their wider spread has been encouraged by the appearance of new varieties whose berries ripen in a relatively short time. The assortment of modern grape varieties for amateur cultivation in the non-Black Earth Zone consists mainly of interspecific hybrids based on Vitis amurensis Rupr., Vitis riparia Michx., Vitis labrusca L., Vitis berlandieri Planch., which causes problems with their vegetative propagation.

The article shows the analysis of the effect of long-term application (since 2006) of nonmoldboard and combined systems of main tillage in a crop rotation in comparison with annual moldboard tillage on productivity of spring wheat, yield and phytosanitary state of barley. The author studied tillage options in a cereal-grass rotation (71% cereals) with different types of fallow (clean, manured, clover and mustard) and with winter rye straw left in the field. Annual mouldboard tillage resulted in the highest yields of spring wheat and barley in the experiment - 2.90 and 2.31 t/ha.

Chinese cabbage is a multivitamin vegetable crop and it is in constant demand due to its taste and dietary qualities, as well as the ability to harvest this crop twice a year due to the short growing season. There are less than 70 cultivars and hybrids in the State Register of Russia, many of them are susceptible to clubroot caused by soil pathogen P.brassicae Wor. The effect of pre-sowing biological treatment of seeds of two varieties (Tyumenskaya 25 and Shortandinskaya 95 improved) of spring soft wheat on field germination of seeds, biological stability and plant survival during the growing season in relation to the productivity was studied.
