Вихрева Global transformations of the modern society have conditioned significant changes in the ways information is created, processed, and stored, resulting in the emergence of new generations of information consumers. Developing effective systems to meet their needs is one of the most pressing challenges facing libraries today. Modeling is an effective tool for solving it. Modeling methods allow integration of empirical and theoretical approaches in library research, combining experimentation with building logical constructs and scientific abstractions. The purpose of this article is to determine theoretical and methodological prerequisites for modeling the system of providing library and information resources to scientists and specialists of the scientific and educational complex. Based on the analysis of the modern scientific discourse and the results obtained by the staff of the Department of Scientific Research and Methodological Work of the State Public Scientific Technological Library of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the main theoretical provisions and methodological approaches to building the conceptual model of the modern service system, taking into account the main trends of its development, are formulated.
