The USSR Academy of Sciences establishment (July 27, 1925) was a turning point in the history of Russian science, defi ning approaches to the development of scientifi c and educational potential that were unparalleled in global practice. The unifi ed all-Union scientifi c and educational space formation in the USSR represents a unique historical experience in creating an integrated system for the production of fundamental knowledge and technology transfer on the scale of a vast multinational state. The USSR Academy of Sciences activities resulted in the creation of eff ective institutional mechanisms for the dissemination of scientifi c results and the ensuring the unity of the scientifi c and educational space while preserving the diversity of scientifi c schools. Th is paper presents a brief overview of the main research areas discussed at the XLVI International Annual Scientifi c Conference «Scientifi c Exploration and Development of Russia and Adjacent Territories (on the 100th Anniversary of the USSR Academy of Sciences)», held from October 27 to 31, 2025 by St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian National Committee on History and Philosophy of Science and Technology of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
