Грушевская The organization of family reading is a strategically important area of library activity, but as the analysis shows, the system of working with families in this context has not yet been properly formalized. Despite the existence of theoretical models and methodological recommendations developed by practicing specialists, the issues of organizing family reading continue to be in the focus of attention for the scientific and professional community. In modern information society where one can observe the decline of youth reading habits, the reviving of family reading traditions becomes particularly relevant and important for the intellectual and emotional development of children and teenagers. This article presents the project activities of libraries in the Krasnodar Region aimed at forming the of family reading, as well as to describe the development rationale for the “Book, Family, Summer” project. The article analyses the concepts of “reading” and “family reading” and summarizes the Russian State Children’s Library’s experience on organizing children and family reading. The study has resulted in recommendations to optimize library projects at creating favorable conditions for family reading. These recommendations can be used by children’s libraries to improve their efficiency and public appeal.
