The purpose of the article is to substantiate the need for the reconstruction of library education disciplines in Uzbekistan in the context of changing society, to propose approaches to the formation of the comprehensive academic discipline "Evolution of the library and information space of Uzbekistan in the context of historical, cultural and social transformations". The emphasis is placed on adapting the course content to modern challenges and needs of the educational environment. The need to strengthen the historical and national component in the curriculum to form the professional identity of specialists and improve their cultural competence is emphasized. Modern challenges and trends associated with the transformation of the library space, including digitalization processes, the development of information and communication technologies, globalization and localization of librarianship, which affect library education, including the content of educational programs, are discussed. The structural and substantive model of the course curriculum is proposed, aimed at developing students’ analytical thinking, stable professional values, interest in the historical heritage and the current state of the country’s information and library space. The development of the comprehensive curriculum and its implementation in the educational process of library education institutions should contribute to: increasing the professional competence of future librarians in the context of the permanent development of information and communication technologies; preserving and popularizing the national cultural heritage in the global information space.
