Do the academic publishers need branding? Analyzing the UFU Press’ visibility

The academic and educational publications are among the most demanded publications in the Russian book market and hold their substantial share. However, university publications do not find wide audience and are unknown to readers though needed by scientific community. To evaluate the demand for academic and scientific literature, the authors analyze 2021–2024 statistical data provided by the Russian Book Chamber. The books published by academic publishers make the significant share of the book market segment.

Publications by academic institute’s researchers inform scientific com-munity on the research findings. At the same time, they make an important organization’s reporting unit. The number of publications, citations in national and foreign science citation databases are the indicators of research performance. The rankings of journals where the articles are published, play the key role. It is important to choose the serial for publication in compliance with the reporting requirements, appropriate publication period, dates of issue and access to full texts.

Belarusian scientific journals as a source of professional communication

Publishing the findings of scientific research in reputable scientific publications affects the rate of knowledge dissemination. At the same time, most Belarusian scientific journals has been revising their publishing concept to meet the criteria set by citation indexes. The paper aim is to determine the status of the Belarusian scientific periodicals in the conditions of the developing model of electronic scientific communication in the post-Soviet states.
