Classifying the UN SDGs research: The problems, approaches and prospects for generative artificial intelligence

The subject classification of research publications enhances navigation in the flow of science literature, enables bibliometric analysis, multitier assessment of research performance. The universal character of the UN agenda of sustainable development and importance of sustainable development goals (SDGs) and scientific research to achieve them, and the complex and multiaspect SDGs stir high interest of bibliographers, scientometrics community, international science databases, in the problem of correlating science publications and SDGs.

Within the framework of R&D project “Information support of research by scientists and specialists on the basis of RNPLST Open Archive as the system of scientific knowledge aggregation”, the RNPLS&T carries on the analysis of general characteristics and features of and defining standard requirements for the LIS search interfaces. The author attempts to develop the array of the requirements for modern web-based interfaces of e-catalogs, to classify and formulate them more specifically, and to substantiate these requirements.

Within the R&D program “Information support of research by scientists and specialists on the basis of RNPLS&T Open Archive – the system of scientific knowledge aggregation”, the RNPLS&T analyzes the use of linguistic tools of thematic search in the modern library information systems and the prospects for their development. The author defines the key common characteristics of e-catalogs of the largest Russian libraries revealed at the first stage of the analy- sis.
